A NEW MOVEMENT - FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS!

NEWT Option One

We Wizards are the greatest! Much better than anyone else: Much better than beasts, spirits, beings, much better than anyone without magic.

Is the above statement correct? No, it is not. Do we behave like in the statement? Yes, we do. Or rather, we did.

After the end of the Second Wizarding War in 1998, new Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt worked hard to change the Ministry of Magic. And with that the relation between wizards and other magical creatures.

Up until then we had a history of clashes with other beings, like the goblin rebellions or all-out wars against giants, segregating certain groups based on their magical capabilities (squibs) or certain diseases (werewolves), effectively treating them like outcasts. And let's not forget the prejudice some Pure-blood families had against Half-bloods or muggle-born witches and wizards.

Of course, I also have to mention the Squib Rights marches. In 1968 and 1969, squibs gathered to protest against their current rights, hoping for better treatment. In the end, the protests unsuccessful, when riots from Pure-blood extremists broke out against the squib protests.

HOMEWORK:

Imagine you have just been appointed as Head of the newly created Office for the Improvement of Inter-Species Relations. You are tasked with coming up with a plan to ... well ... improve the relationship of the Ministry with squibs, muggles and other magical species.

The presentation of your plan may take any format: a graphic, essay, song, etc., so long as you have demonstrated a level of work equivalent to the general expectations of NEWT students.
