RE-VAMPING HOGWARTS HOUSES
OWL Option Two
I'm sure you are familiar with the typical Hogwarts House traits...
Gryffindors are brave and daring, the adventurers and the pranksters. Hufflepuffs are just and loyal, kind friends to all and fiercely protective of the people they love. Ravenclaws are wise and witty, creative-minded and never afraid to sass the professors. Slytherins are cunning and ambitious, naturally rising to leadership positions as they chase after their dreams.
The Four Founders of Hogwarts were described to have been like that, and the traits for their houses directly come from it. But can we really assume that every member of the house fits the traits?
No, we can't do that. Ok, I admit, many members fit these attributes. And I need to point out that for each house there are more than just the two traits I mentioned. But there will always be someone who absolutely doesn't seem to fit.
HOMEWORK:
1) For three of the four houses, research one member that doesn't fit the traits. Which members did you select? What house were they in? What did they do in life that contradicted most their house traits?
2) Do you think Hogwarts would be better off without houses or should the traits be updated? If you think the traits should be updated, come up with a modern version.
